Forget about those old-school fashion ideas you've been following for ages. As fashion changes, so do the "rules." Today's fashion guidelines are much more lax, seeing as looking good is more about expressing your individuality than following a rigid set of clothing principles.

Steel-band watches go with everything…

Setting the record straight: Invest in a leather band watch. This is the only type of wrist wear acceptable for those formal occasions. Go with a basic black leather band just to ensure that you can get the most wear out of it as possible.

Working fulltime and trying to raise a family does not leave much energy or time to worry about one’s makeup. For professional females, getting dolled up for work and play may have become a thing of the past long ago. With just a few spare moments, though, quick and easy beauty tricks can refresh a woman’s look instantly.

For those playing double (or triple) roles as corporate professional and wife and/or mother, applying makeup before starting the day may be the last thing on their minds. Check out the following tips for a new beauty regimen in less than five minutes!

Blemishes and dark spots
Even if you do not have enough time for anything else, use a concealer stick, cover-up or powder makeup to mask blemishes and dark circles under your eyes. Concealing unsightly marks on one’s face should take about one to two minutes if only treating specific problem areas. Visine eye drops may be applied to reduce redness of blemishes before applying concealer.

Eyes
A single coat of mascara will only take about one moment per eye, giving just enough definition to lashes, bringing out your eyes. A soft dusting of eye shadow in a complementary shade to one’s choice of apparel will further enhance the eyes. Putting on eye color should take no more than a few seconds, though mascara alone is a good substitute if time does not permit eye shadow application.

Lips
For a soft, kissable look, slap some flavored or tinted lip-gloss on your lips. Lipstick or lip stain will draw more attention to your lips than lip-gloss, but either product will make a difference in the way you look and feel.

Hair
Invest in a few hairpins, clips and decorative sticks. Some types of hair accessories allow women to twist their hair up and pin it back, all in about 30 seconds. Spray gel or non-sticky hairspray may also come in handy in order to preserve the style and to secure fly-aways.

Finally, splash on some body spray or perfume and get ready to head out the door. By sparing only five to seven minutes in the morning, your new quick and easy makeup plan can be modified to fit your own beauty sense while giving you a simple foundation to effortless beautification.

Finding clothes that flatter a plus sized woman's body can be really frustrating. Here are some ideas to help you get the most out of your look.

There are a few "win-win" items for plus size girls, and that should be essentials in your closet. A good wrap top can really accentuate the chest, and it usually helps focus the eye away from the tummy. Another key thing to look for is longer length tops. When a top sits lower on the hips, rather than near the belly button, it helps to create a smoother figure.

Cinched jackets are a must for plus sized women. They create a gorgeous high waist, and minimize stomachs. If you cant find a cinched jacket, you can create the same effect by wearing a button down jacket and adding a skinny belt.

Layering is something else that can really either enhance or take away from a plus size woman's look. Layering long sleeved tees and baby tees isn't a great look, as it usually leads to a bulky, shapeless body. Instead, layer a thin camisole with a nice blazer, a nice jacket or a cardigan.

The hardest thing about plus sized women's fashion is the lack of flattering pants. The best pants for plus sized women are boot cut and flared. Boot cut creates a really nice straight line, and is really flattering. Wearing flared jeans creates the same effect, and really helps to balance out wide hips. They're casual and fun, but can also look really classy if paired with the right shoe.

When shopping for pants, keep in mind that we're looking to elongate the body, and to have nice clean lines. Include your curves, and enhance them. The one rule we really want you to remember is to stay very, very, very far away from tapered legs and pleated pants. Tapered legs create a balloon effect at the stomach and emphasize hips and buttocks. The same with pleats. Having a pleated waist only draws attention to your stomach and creates a balloon, making you look more top heavy than you are.

This season, beauty is just plain simple and refined.

What do people look at first when they see you? Some say your smile. We say your eyes. Your eyebrows and eyelashes frame your eyes. Need we say more?

Naturally shaped brows are what's in now... meaning brows that aren't overly tweezed or severely shaped. Say good-bye to too cute and perky. This summer's more natural and subdued, whether your style is bohemian or classic. Brows that are exaggeratedly shaped or overly filled in can appear pretentious.

When it comes to your lashes, gently enhance what Ma Nature gave you by going easy on them. One good sheer coat of black or brown mascara is all you'll need... or better yet, use the clear kind. Just keep it simple and elegant.

Today's eye makeup trends are radically different, ranging from a "nude" look to a "smoky" effect to a "clean" style. Let's keep the colour on your eyes natural by using browns, creams, and whites, shall we?

And that was this weekend's beauty tip only here on Campus Radio 97.1 WLS-FM. My name is Paddi of Aircheck Batch Three.

We're all about puckering up this weekend!

If you have dry flaky skin on your lips, try exfoliating them. Apply some petroleum jelly to your lips and with a damp toothbrush, very gently rub your surface of the lips to remove the dry skin.

Now if you love using lip gloss, and going solo with it, believe it or not, but it can indeed increase your chances of lip burn during sunny days. It's not because of the shine factor, though. It's because gloss gives your lips a heavy-duty shot of moisture in addition to a sexy sheen. Although that moisture will prevent your lips from chapping or peeling, it also actually acts as a superconductor of damaging UV rays, allowing them to penetrate the skin more quickly. To protect your pucker in the sun, stay away from clear gloss. Pick one with a bit of color instead, since the pigment is a natural sunblock. You could also first line and fill in your lips with a nude pencil for the same protective-pigment effect. Or prep your lips with a slick of lip balm containing SPF 15 or higher.

By the way, lip balm works way much better than just any regular lip gloss.
